Air Traffic Manager

Description:

Operational, technical and administrative work in the operation of air traffic control (ATC) services at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Contract Tower assigned. Work involves the responsibility for coordination of the air traffic control operation for the airport and surrounding airspace in accordance with FAA regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for awareness of employee issues (performance concerns, scheduling issues) and communication of those issues to management for assistance with resolution.
  • Work tower operating positions to ensure coverage for employee breaks, absences, and other considerations.
  • Attend weekly/monthly FAA District, Midwest ATC, and airport management meetings.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the facility and provide direction, per standard operating procedures, to the FCT controllers.
  • Implement the mission and policies of Midwest ATC.
  • Manage the facility under the direction of the Midwest ATC Corporate Office personnel.
  • Ensure the maintenance of facility records in accordance with FAA regulations.
  • Monitor satisfactory equipment operation and report outages to the appropriate equipment owner.
  • Work with airport management to develop, coordinate, and implement procedures for control of airport and construction vehicles required to operate on airport movement areas.
  • Provide supervision of the aviation weather reporting station to ensure weather observations are correctly processed and reported.
  • Respond to DroneZone and the Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC) approval requests.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of FAA computer systems to include the Operational Analysis and Reporting System (OARS) and Automated Contingency Tool 2 (ACT2).
  • Conduct an annual Runway Safety Action Team (RSAT) meeting in accordance with FAA regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Solid understanding of FAA Traffic Control Tower Operations and related provisioning of air traffic control duties. Must maintain a valid FAA Air Traffic Control Tower Operator (CTO) Certificate. Must maintain a valid Class II medical certificate issued under Part 67 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
